SunCoast Mummers
(Ellington, Fl)
The SunCoast Mummers String Band was organized in 1977. We have
performed throughout Manatee, Charlotte and Hillsborough Counties. Our Music Director is John
Schweizer. John would like to extend an invitation to retired
Mummers moving to Florida. "We're saving a
chair for you."

The Original Ed Salmon
(Mummers) Florida String Band (Spring Hill, Fl) Est. 1978 -
The Ed Salmon Florida String Band is the brainchild of Ed Salmon a
former captain of one of the many bands who yearly performed in
the
outstanding
New Years Parade in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
All
members are senior citizens ranging
in age from 58 to 85. Their
type of music is distinctly
old time danceable fox trots, polkas, waltz and some swing, but
75% of it is to the peculiar strutting beat of
the mummers.
The band is a non-profit organization playing for nursing
homes free of
charge, but
they do ask for a donation from
the
other groups to help pay the
cost of music, uniforms and sound
equipment. Their average yearly
performances of some forty are
limited
to early October to
early May, but
they practice year round on Monday
nights at the Aripeka Elks
in Hudson.
